The Chaparral Culture

Carlos R. and Mary Garcia sold their modest home in San Antonio to purchase the El Chaparral in Helotes on February 2nd. It was formerly known as Rudy and Irene’s which had been a Mexican establishment for twenty-four years.

Little did they know that this little hole in the wall would someday turn into such a world class destination.

The famous “Bean Soup” that customers have come to adore was introduced as a free appetizer to all guests.

Served the same way today as it was back in 1977!

Jessica was the only daughter of El Chaparral owners, Carlos and Mary Garcia and the sister of Carlos and Gabe Garcia.

She was tragically killed in a car accident on February 25th by a person who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was twenty-seven years old and was a graduate of St. Mary’s University.

Her memory lives on forever and everything that is done at the El Chaparral is dedicated in honor of her!

Grand re-opening of the newly expanded El Chaparral Restaurant in Helotes and the dedication of “Jessica’s Jardin.”

The restaurant was transformed from a small tiny hangout to a large ten thousand square foot landmark.

Our San Antonio location was born at 1604 and Redland Road.

The promise of providing “A TASTE LIKE NO OTHER” to all of our customers became a realty.

The eclectic restaurant with it’s modern design and hip cantina became an instant hit!

Our third location in the historic town of Boerne will be delivered to our loyal Hill Country customers in December of this year.

It will most certainly be an attractive destination with the old world charm and feel of our original location in Helotes.

This place has great Tex-Mex in the hills of Helotes. It's delicious, it's beautiful it's a win win!

Just tried it for the first time an instantly became a new favorite! Great food!

We had lunch there today and it was great as always. My wife would eat there a couple times a week if I let her. Keep up the good work.

The nachos are perfect. The chip is homemade. I will be returning there soon.

A great place to take the family for lunch or supper.
